Coffee With Hales

Welcome to Coffee with Hales! Here, we explore mini-homesteading, backyard chickens, conspiracies, technocracy, politics, and culture — all through a lens of curiosity and discernment, examining how a biblical worldview can shape practical living in everyday life.

If you want to slow down, think clearly, and see the world from a different perspective, you’re in the right place — by asking thoughtful questions, considering alternative perspectives, and taking steps toward a more intentional way of living.

God’s Word Holds Power

Happy October, Friends! October is a very bitter-sweet month for me. The fall and Halloween season was a very memorable time growing up. It was my dad's favorite season and my Mom did many extra things to make fall special- from homemade Halloween customs of whatever we wanted to themed fall snacks and books... For our family this month was filled with pumpkin patches, apple cider, cider donuts, caramel apples, and spooky stories.
My dad was also welcomed into Heaven in the month of October. Knowing this was the last month I had to enjoy with my dad has turned fall and Halloween into something I've coined "Happy/Sad". Yes, grieving the loss of my dad this month is sad- but I was able to spend the last moments with him in a time of year that he loved. We had the chance to create some last sweet memories. Staying up late talking and laughing, drinking cider, and eating Bill Knapp's donuts together for breakfast enjoying the crisp weather and fire.
So, as he was my inspiration for this little podcast, I thought it was only fitting to do a theme in his favorite month that I think he would have loved - Practical Applications from Spooky Bible Stories.
I hope you enjoy and take the time to create some special fall memories with your friends and family this Halloween Season!
